Animal Management Lecturer (1 x full-time, permanent position)
We are an ambitious, forward looking college with high aspirations for our learners. We are currently seeking to appoint 1 x Animal Management Lecturer and Course Manager to join our busy, thriving Animal Management and Science Department. This role will be based at Berkshire College of Agriculture, Maidenhead.
The successful applicants will have the ability to deliver a range of practical and theoretical disciplines. We are seeking to appoint one lecturer within our L3 curriculum team to teach subject areas such as practical husbandry skills, animal health and biology, breeding and genetics and another to deliver to our L1 and L2 students in subject areas such as biology, feeding and accommodation, practical animal husbandry, animal health (the ability to teach GCSE biology would be beneficial). Both posts require candidates to be creative and inclusive as you will be delivering to a broad range of learners. As such we are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and versatile lecturers’ with proven track records at further education level. In addition to teaching responsibilities you will also be required to take on course leadership, student recruitment, quality assurance, progress tracking, planning and assessment of students.
You will ideally hold a degree in a relevant subject area (particularly if delivering at L3) and have demonstrable experience working with animals in industry. We teach progressive husbandry techniques based on positive reinforcement, so a strong understanding of learning theories is essential as well as exceptional knowledge of animal diets and housing needs. You will ideally hold a teaching qualification but this is not essential, however the ability and commitment to work towards one is highly desirable.
