*BRITISH ARMY MUSIC*
British Army Music supports military and civil events from world renowned parades through to contemporary bands performing for soldiers.
Made up of 13 Regular bands and 1 string orchestra, that play everything from military marching music to jazz and contemporary who need musicians with a wide range of specialisms.
*EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED*
If you can play an instrument, but do not have recognised musical qualifications, you can still gain entry to BAM by auditioning. We accept graduate level players and also with lower grades who we see potential in. We will train and develop everyone to become the best you can be. No specific experience is necessary.
*TRAINING*
There are two stages to the training to become an Army Musician.
*Stage 1 *
You will start with your initial military training which will teach you how to be a soldier – this will cover everything from fieldcraft to how to handle a rifle. If you join as a Junior Soldier (under 17 years 5 months), you will do a 23-week basic military training course at Harrogate. If you join as a Regular Soldier (over 17 years 1 month), you will do the regular 14-week adult basic training.
*Stage 2 *
The aim of the training is to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to enable trainees to take their place in a Band. Acknowledging prior learning and experiences, the training is designed to allow the trainees to develop as quickly as possible. You will cover:
* Instrumental performance and technique
* Marching band
* General musicianship
* Music theory
* Aural perception
* Orchestration
Instrumental and academic instruction is delivered by a highly dedicated and experienced team of professors, many of whom are key performers from top professional orchestras and ensembles from around the UK. There are opportunities for all trainees to perform both as a soloist and as a sectional player.
*SALARY & BENEFITS*
All musicians receive musical tutoring, your instrument and all associated accessories (e.g. reeds). Plus you will have the opportunity to play all over the world, whilst enjoying an unbeatable team spirit.

*ELIGIBILITY*
