Are you an experienced and dedicated individual with a background in care? Do you have a real passion for making a real difference in the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disability (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

If so, Leader Education is recruiting on behalf of a SEND school who cater for pupils aged between 2 to 19 years old. Please note that it is essential that candidates have a Moving and Handling qualification and this can be provided free of charge. The role will begin on a supply basis, but will become permanent after a successful trial period.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a committed Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our SEND school, where you will have the opportunity to work with students who have profound and complex disabilities, many of whom are on the autism spectrum. As a school support worker, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the growth and development of our students, fostering a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing individualised and group instruction tailored to the specific needs of students with PMLD and autism.
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement personalised education plans.
• Employing a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning atmosphere.
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
• Offering emotional support and guidance to help students thrive.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• It is essential that you have a moving and handling qualification or be willing to attend our free course to obtain one.
• Experience working with children, young adults or adults who have profound and complex disabilities, particularly those with autism.
• Basic Life Support, seizure training and PEG feeding training is desirable.
• A comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with PMLD.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student requirements.
