Smile Education’s Leadership division are currently seeking a Director of English for a Norfolk (IP26) based secondary school. This job role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, to start from September 2021 or sooner. An earlier start date can be negotiated for the right candidate. If you have recently held a post as a Director of English or have experience in a similar role and are either local to or can travel to can travel to the Norfolk area, we would like to hear from you. We are representing a rapidly improving secondary setting with their current, permanent vacancy. This school is part of a larger family (trust) who are child focussed and pride themselves on the development and support of their people. The setting currently has places for over 1000 students, is well resourced and has an established leadership team at the helm. Groups are heavily supported by Learning & Support Mentors and Teachers, all of whom have vast experience working with children with challenging needs. The Trust is able to offer substantial CPD programme to their leadership team including The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQL). The senior leaders across the Trust work in a tight knit community and have an institute of Education, centre of excellence set up for newly appointed members to join. They also hold an annual principals conference. The Trust offer support to other local MAT’s providing a wide range of opportunities to utilise your skills for school improvement purposes.
This job is a full time, permanent post and has arisen owing to internal movement. In this post you will manage the professional community of subject teachers to ensure high attainment of their subject across the Academy. The key purpose being a collaborative approach to develop an exciting curriculum which enables the highest level of pupil progress and attainment.
Key responsibilities:
Leadership and support of all subject teachers within the academy
Subject coordination across the academy
Lead the professional community of subject teachers and leaders in the academy
Quality teaching and learning of their subject across the academy
Curriculum setting and assessment across the academy
To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:
Hold a relevant UK based teaching qualification (QTS)
Senior leadership experience
Possess secondary school experience
Be able to provide recent, outstanding references
Salary potential: MPS/UPS & TLR1D
