About the Role
We are looking for a technician to support teachers in the delivery of Design and Technology.? Your main tasks will include assisting in the maintenance and safety?of the design and technology rooms, including collecting and tidying away used equipment; assisting in the maintenance and organisation of stock; and following the maintenance schedule for tools and machines and carrying out basic repairs where possible.?
Your main duties will include:
Support students and teaching staff when doing practical tasks.
Prepare materials, equipment and resources of lessons.
Administrative tasks e.g. filing, photocopying and laminating.
To check on a daily, weekly and half termly basis all machinery and equipment in the workshop and organise any repairs and maintenance of equipment.
To ensure suitable storage of stock, re-ordering as required.
To ensure that equipment and working areas are kept in a clean and tidy order.
To provide technical support during lessons, including individual or small group pupil support where appropriate.
To have a particular regard for health and safety matters in accordance with school policy and statutory requirements.
To check and empty extraction systems on a regular basis.
To support the department in setting up for Open Evenings, Options Evenings and Exhibitions – providing technical support at these events when necessary.
To support catch-up session and extra-curricular clubs during lunch or after school.
About You
The ideal DT Technician must:
Have good IT skills
Have a love for technology and resistant materials
Be comfortable using machinery and equipment in a modern technology suite, to include laser cutter and?3D software/printer along with traditional workshop machinery (training will be provided)
Have previous experience of working in a similar role (training can be provided)
Be passionate about providing an outstanding service to students and staff
Prioritise tasks effectively and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to work under pressure
Demonstrate a commitment to Professional Development
Enjoy working with young people
Be a motivator
Be a good communicator both verbal and written and be able to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level
Have personal integrity and the drive to do what is best for the students
Have a sense of humour!!!
