My client, a private school in west London, is looking to recruit an Early Years Art Educator. This role is within one of their Early Years classes, in a team with a Team Leader who overseas the team. This role is teaching approximately 75% art and creative lessons and 25% other lessons the curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities

To carry out the responsibilities with regard to the school’s own policies and to have read all of these policies.
To be seen as a professional and responsible figure by parents and pupils, providing caring support at all times.
To share responsibility for the health and safety of pupils and colleagues at all times.
To take responsibility for planning activities and the assessment of children, to aid with the overall development of the pupils.
Carry out observations and assessment of pupils and record keeping.
Telling or reading stories to a class or group of pupils.
To lead activities and scaffold learning in teacher and child initiated learning both indoors and outdoors.
To take groups of children on educational visits, ensuring their safety at all times.
To write weekly lesson plans, in conjunction with the school’s schemes of work and project outlines.
Maintaining and setting out equipment in an interesting and stimulating way before the activities of the day and clearing away equipment after use, encouraging the assis- tance of the children.
Sharing responsibilities for displays, including art but also in other areas of the curriculum.
Help control and maintain resources in- cluding books, materials, equipment etc.
Making and repairing appropriate materi- als for play activities.
To make use of ICT to both aid the pupils’ learning and to improve displays where appropriate.
To refer sick pupils to the Medical Carer/ Headteacher and if required to accompany them to hospital in the absence of parents and to remain with the child until a parent arrives.
Administration of basic first aid, following regular updating of First Aid Course.
To participate in the care of pupils wait- ing to be collected by parents/carers.
Undertaking classroom tidying and organisation daily.
Undertaking ‘end of term jobs’ to a high Standard.
To attend meetings as required by the Headteacher within working hours. To assist with students on occasional placements at the school.
To work in partnership with parents.
To take part in training during school hours and to have a positive attitude to continuous professional development To be responsible for the safety of pupils who are unaware of dangers to themselves and others.
To work in an environment where pupils have higher levels of personal care needs e.g. feeding, toileting, changing soiled clothes.
To carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and at a similar responsibility level to those described above which may be allocated from time to time.
To ensure discrimination be adhered to in that the school’s policy on non-all aspects, and that pupils be given every opportunity to maintain their particular identities through the provision of suitable ethnic learning play facilities and through respect for dietary and religious considerations.

Education & Training

Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science
We would welcome applications from Art graduates without teaching experience NVQ Level 3 is desirable
QTS is desirable SALARY Starting from £28,000 dependent on experience

Teaching – Shift Patterns

The first shift starts at 7.00am-4.00pm and the last shift is 9.00am-6.00pm (lock up)
Other shifts include 8.15am-5.15 5.15pm, 8.30am-5.30pm and 8.45am-5.45pm
These are organised at the beginning of each term and distributed fairly so that staff have a variety of shifts
They are changed termly
