Edustaff are working in partnership with a successful and reputable Kensington secondary, to develop a pipeline of ‘future English teachers’ that will initially provide academic support to students within an English department for the entire academic year before commencing their teacher training from September 2023

With the intention of ‘home-growing’ more of their own English teachers, this school is looking to meet with talented and passionate English graduates who can boast exceptional academic records and who are committed to a career within English teaching but who would benefit from securing additional classroom experience first.

As an English Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with the teachers within the school’s English department to support the learning of high achieving pupils and by supporting pupils who may be struggling with the lesson content. You will get the chance to observe how qualified English teachers plan and deliver lessons and to build up your knowledge of the English curriculum across KS3 and KS4. In this progressive role, you are likely to get the opportunity to implement pre-set lesson plans to whole classes as an English Cover Supervisor. You will also provide specialist 1:1 support to students in the lead up to GCSE exams.

Most importantly, the initial English Teaching Assistant role will affirm whether you feel ready to commence teacher training.
