Tradewind are recruiting! Are you looking for you next role teaching English in Waltham Forest?
Tradewind are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and talented English Teacher to join them in the summer term from Easter 2021. This is a successful 11-19 girls’ school which serves the mixed community of East London.
This client is six-form entry, mixed gender secondary school in Walthamstow, East London with 840 students on roll. It admits 180 girls and boys to Year 7 each year. Ofsted rating of the school is ‘good’. They are a happy, successful and very popular 11 to 16 mixed comprehensive school. This school are also holders of the Platinum Quality Mark for Professional Development and the Arts Mark Platinum Award
The school are proud of their inclusive ethos. Students from all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and flourish within a safe and caring environment. Students make great progress during their time at the school because they are supported and have a great pastoral care in place for all.
At this school English teachers recognise that a rich, rewarding experience of English is not just about rich curriculum content, but also about the disciplinary practice of critical linguistic and literary study. They have selected exciting and challenging curriculum texts and ideas and planned for students to engage with these, learn from them, comment on them and question them. The department provide a greater diversity of fictional voices than the National Curriculum requires, a more sophisticated approach to language study, a greater focus on creativity and a recognition that students deserve to study both heritage literature and contemporary texts that allow them to engage fully with the world they live in.
At the heart of the school, English is the development of how they communicate both in written and verbal forms. As such the subject explores reading, writing and spoken language, allowing students to become confident, critical, creative and influential communicators in their daily lives. English is largely taught in mixed-attainment groups, with a top set group in Year 10 and 11 to help higher-attaining students excel. Years 7 to 9 take eight hours of English per fortnight, with GCSE classes having nine hours over the same period.
All staff will benefit from full CPD course which is offered to all member of staff and benefit from the brand new state-of-the-art building
This client is based in Waltham Forest and has excellent transport links with the closet tube being only 2 mins walks. No onsite parking is available, but a public car park is a short walk from the school.
