The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of high-quality financial management information and will provide professional advice to Executive and senior management and all budget holders within the Trust.

Description

• To lead and manage the month and year end processes within the Trust in line with the organisation’s deadlines, including VAT claims and monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring all accrual and prepayments are made in line with financial procedures.
• To investigate and report on significant budgetary variances, identifying any remedial action that needs to be taken and making appropriate adjustments in line with internal procedures if necessary.
• To carry out funds analysis and advise the Executive Board on the Trust’s current reserves position, both overall and in relation to specific funds, making recommendations about investments, capital projects and contingencies.
• To prepare monthly financial management information, analysis and advice to budget holders in line with Trust requirements and timescales.
• To meet regularly with budget holders and the Executive Board to assess financial performance and to provide further insight, advice and guidance in relation to the monthly financial management information.
• To ensure budget holders have an awareness of financial performance requirements, including the need for budgetary control and adherence to the Trust’s finance policies, and to provide financial awareness training where

• To lead year-end financial management and reporting including assisting the auditors with the completion of the annual accounts.
• To lead in the preparation of short and long term budgets, considering relevant activity data, pupil numbers, cost and funding pressures and organisational developments, and working with the Executive Board and school Headteachers to establish curriculum and school improvement requirements and strategic
• To set, lead and report on the performance of the strategy for the finance department, ensuring this aligns vertically with the Trust’s overall business strategy, and horizontally with the strategies of other Trust departments.
• To line manage all employees in the finance team, ensuring they meet all internal, statutory and performance monitoring requirements, and to support them with completion of day-to-day accounting tasks.

Profile

• Chartered accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA etc)
• Experience within the education sector (desireable)
