About The Service
Actual Salary Range: EAI 13-16 + 3 SPA (£52,860 – £60,668)
The Storey Arms has been operating as part of the City of Cardiff Council’s Education Service since 1971.
We offer residential and day visits for schools, youth groups and families as well as corporate days out, teambuilding and days out with a difference.
We welcome groups from Wales, the rest of the United Kingdom and abroad.
In association with National Governing Bodies of outdoor activities, we also deliver qualifications allowing adults to lead groups in hill walking and rock climbing.
Our programmes are aimed at young people from 9 to 18 years old, higher education students and adults.
We also work with teachers and those working in higher education so that they can gain qualifications and develop skills to deliver outdoor activities. Our outdoor education programmes are designed to develop a variety of skills within a group:
Our programmes also address issues of sustainability and understanding our natural environment.
Recently the service has provided a city-based arm, supporting special schools to deliver outdoor education programmes to pupils based in Cardiff. This pilot programme will be reviewed at the end of the academic year.
About the job
The post is responsible for operational management of the Centre including facilities, personnel, finance, programmes, and resources and operational management of the Cardiff Outdoor Outreach provision.
There is also a strategic role within the Education Service, advising schools and youth organisations and providing in-service training.
You will manage a team of outdoor instructors, domestic/centre staff, and business support staff.

What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking to appoint a Head of Centre for the Storey Arms near Brecon in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog.
The post requires a suitably qualified, motivated, energetic, and business minded leader.
