Are you an experienced English and Media studies teacher looking to progress within your career?
TLTP are currently working with a Secondary school based in Newham that is recruiting for a Head of English and Media studies to join them on a permanent basis to start in April. The school wish to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified Head of English and Media studies to join and lead their excellent, supportive and friendly department. This role will involve teaching English and Media studies to key stage 3 and key stage 4 students as well as having responsibility to lead the department.
As the Schools new Head of English and Media studies your duties will include but will not be limited to the following:
You will need to have an in-depth knowledge of the UK national curriculum and be comfortable at delivering English and Media studies to key stage 3 and 4.
Be accountable for leading, managing and developing the English and Media curriculum
Develop and enhance the teaching practise of others
Supporting and encouraging teachers within your department
As the new Head of English and Media studies you will be communicating on a regular basis with parents and carers on their child’s progress within your classes
You must keep an up to date report on all students progression throughout the academic year
You will be required to use a wide variety of learning resources to help you provide the best lessons possible to all your classes
You will be required to undertake appropriate CPD training in line with school and departmental priorities
The successful Head of English and Media studies will have the following Qualifications/Experience;
You must have an English or Media studies related degree with a relevant teaching qualification ie. PGCE, QTS, SCITT.
You will need to have strong behaviour management
Excellent subject knowledge
Previous middle leadership experience would be desirable
You must have a clear understanding of the UK national curriculum
You will need a recent Enhanced DBS check which is registered to the Update Service
