GSL Education are currently looking to appoint an experiencedHead of MFLto work at a secondary school in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.This role is starting from January 2024. The school is looking for an experienced Head of MFL who will be leading, managing, and developing the department in order to maximize student achievement and progress.The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as a proven track record of successfully leading a language department. They will be passionate about languages and able to inspire students and teachers alike.

Head of Modern Foreign language Job responsibilities:

• Lead the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies in the department.
• Evaluate and implement effective teaching strategies in order to maximise subject learning.
• To teach the relevant subject across the age and ability range.
• Managing, directing, and running the department’s course offerings on a daily basis, including the efficient use of personnel and material resources
• To oversee all of the subject-area staff (teaching and support personnel) and to take the reins in their professional development
• To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

The successful candidate/ Head of MFL requires:

• Be a qualified teacher with QTS or QTLS.
• Previous experience of working as a Head of MFL.
• Significant teaching experience including KS5
• Understanding of techniques to enhance the quality of teaching and learning
• Experience as a department head producing successful results in student progress and achievement
• Advanced knowledge of National Curriculum requirements
