The Foundation and Intermediate School at Kingston College has oversight of and responsibility for the cross-college English and Maths and Employability provision. The focus is on ensuring that current and future students receive a first class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and to develop long-lasting learning and employability skills.
Joining us as Head of Section, you will be responsible for the staff and curriculum standards in the cross-college mandatory English delivery area. You will ensure you are offering a transparent, responsive, and high-quality service to the College.
This post has collective responsibility for the implementation of the area business and improvement plans, as well as contributing to the College’s Objectives and Improvement Plans. You will ensure we meet our conditions of funding for English skills development, ensuring high quality teaching, improving success rates and ensuring excellent feedback from students.
We’re looking for someone who has excellent teaching skills in GCSE English and who is recognised as a good or better teacher. You’ll have experience of leading / managing English; GCSE English and/or English Functional Skills and have a track record of making sustained improvements.
With high personal standards and expectations, you will have experience of successfully monitoring and supporting ‘at-risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential and of managing, supporting and developing staff. We’d like you to have current knowledge of impending changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies, and have a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes, and how these can be used to enhance the student experience.
Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
