SUPPLY HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT

Location: Pontefract, Yorkshire

Contract Type: Full-time and part-time positions available

Pay: 100 – 130 per day, depending on experience

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the teaching and learning process, working closely with students, teachers, and other professionals within the school environment.

We are looking for a Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work with children across Year 1 – Year 6 in a number of subjects. You must be comfortable leading the classroom during PPA cover and be comfortable leading sessions with small groups of children. This may include intervention sessions in core subjects.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the teaching staff to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality learning experiences for students.
• Provide support and guidance to students with various abilities and needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and materials, contributing to a stimulating learning environment.
• Lead small group activities, delivering pre-planned lessons and monitoring progress.
• Supervise students during breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Build positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students with additional learning needs, implementing Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and behaviour management strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
• Collaborate with other professionals, such as teachers, educational psychologists, and parents, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
• Stay updated on educational policies, practices, and trends, continuously improving your own professional development.

Requirements:

• Have a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Higher-Level Teaching Assistant is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Strong organisational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
• A caring and empathetic nature, with a genuine passion for working with children and young people.
• Knowledge of the national curriculum and relevant teaching strategies.
• Familiarity with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and the ability to provide effective support to students with diverse learning needs.
• Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of students, tailoring support accordingly.
• A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom.
• An up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, or willingness to undergo one.
