About the School:
This primary school is looking for an exceptional Learning Support Assistant to join their diverse and inclusive school. This school is located in the heart of Rotherhithe with easy access to various transport links.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for providing 1:1 support to pupils in a specific learning base with various SEN including, ASD, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour. You will be required to provide learning support for the pupil during the class and specifically during time outs and movement breaks. Pupils can present challenging behaviour and you will need to administer effective techniques to manage this, especially when they try to push boundaries. You will be confident across the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and ensure that his activities and lessons are correctly marked. You will assist in developing their knowledge and work in partnership with parents, SENCO and the class teacher. You will contribute to the school’s curriculum and maximise learning in the classroom, by providing necessary materials and resources. It is also essential that you are involved in the day to day planning and preparation of class activities, whilst ensuring that the pupil is motivated and encouraged to participate in activities that are outside their comfort zone.
The successful candidate should:
Be confident supporting the Class Teacher and SENCOPositively manage groups (up to 12 pupils) with directed / specialist interventionsSupport pupils with various Special NeedsHave strong behaviour management skills and initiativeHave a creative touch towards resources and tailored learning aidsBe a patient and positive role model for pupilsHave a high level of literacy and numeracyHave a proven success of supporting students at Key Stages 1 and 2Confident creating and implementing Visual Timetables, follow and working in-line with the set EHCPKnowledge of PECs, Makaton, Social Stories, Visual Aids
Types of Intervention: Toe by Toe, Lego Therapy, Precision Teaching, Reading Recovery, Nurture Group, Word Aware, Language of Thinking, SATs, Catch Up Numeracy, Phonics
