We are looking to recruit two full-time Learning Mentors or Teaching Assistants for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Wandsworth to start from Monday 8th March 2021.
You will be supporting and providing care for secondary aged pupils 1:1 and in small groups with social emotional mental health (SEMH) needs.
Rates: £65-75 per day dependant on experience and/or training
Interview date: From Monday 1st March 2021 on school site (including completing a numeracy/literacy task)
Duration: 8th March 2021 – July 2021 minimally (can be extended)
Location: Tooting, Wandsworth
Basic Job Responsibilities:
You will work in class as a Learning Mentor supporting the class teacher and supporting the needs of the school on a day to day basis.
The role requires working with secondary aged pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis with a variety of attainment levels
You will be required to monitor development and the welfare of pupils while adhering to all safeguarding procedures promoted by the school.
Be able to build and maintain strong relationships with pupils and staff alike
Be experienced or confident supporting children or young adults with social emotional mental health (SEMH) needs or at risk of exclusion
Have strong written and verbal communication skills with A-C GCSE or equivalent
Be available full-time, Mondays to Fridays during school term time
Be based either in Wandsworth, South West London or local to the borough
Be forward thinking with a proactive approach
Be happy and able to work as part of a supportive and experienced team
Additional training in Behaviour Management, Team Teach and/or Positive Handling is highly beneficial but is not essential.
