An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Agriculture to join our ambitious team at Northumberland College. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Agriculture Lecturer who can use this energy to inspire learners to have lifelong careers in this key sector
The role is based at Northumberland Colleges’ Kirkley Hall campus sited at
Ponteland. The curriculum area offers a range of full-time and part-time courses that encompasses agriculture, countryside and environment, floristry, horticulture, military and outdoor adventure.
The Agriculture curriculum benefits from a working farm and extensive woods and natural environments of the Kirkley estates. The courses also have access to local farms and the Northumberland countryside along with a good working relationship with local employers. It is very much our desire to build up the student numbers at Kirkley and fully utilise the facilities on offer as well as continue to develop the resource. The Land and Outdoor Academy has approximately 25 full time staff complimented by a number of part time staff who support specialist delivery within the curriculum area.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, committed, and passionate individual with a strong Agriculture background and knowledge. They will mainly teach programmes up to level three, so a minimum of a level 4 agriculture qualification is required. They will plan, promote, deliver, monitor and evaluate the progress of their courses and learners and will create and cultivate strong links with the industry.

The role includes teaching technical and work-based qualifications. You will also be responsible for ensuring the students have an exciting fully inclusive enrichment programme which supports wider skill development. The role also includes supporting the management of the programmes of study within the curriculum.

OVERALL PURPOSE
The Land and Outdoor Academy is based at Northumberland Colleges’ Kirkley Hall campus sited at Ponteland. The curriculum area offers a range of full-time and part-time courses that encompasses: SEND provision, animal management, equine studies, veterinary nursing, agriculture, arboriculture, horticulture, floristry, countryside and environment. These range from entry level to foundation degree with associated short specialist courses being offered.
The agriculture curriculum benefits from the ability to access the whole estate including Kirkley Zoo with over 200 species of animal an Equestrian centre and two working farms, sports facilities and horticultural areas. A new purpose-built Foundation Learning Centre with bespoke specialist facilities to support learners at all levels of educational need.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Agriculture Lecturer will support in the planning, promotion, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of their teaching and the progress of their learners. They will create and cultivate strong links with parents, carers, and external agencies along with the relative industries to ensure that all students gain an outstanding experience.
