Payroll and Pensions Advisor To start ASAPSalary: £28,000 – £32,000Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Payroll & Pensions Advisor who will support the Finance Director / Head of Finance in the provision of a high-quality and efficient service for a forward thinking School and its employees. The effectiveness of the role is crucial to the smooth operation, where payroll related costs account for around 80% of the cost base.The Payroll & Pensions Advisor will work to contribute to the development and streamlining of relevant controls, processes and procedures in these key areas. This position will help to ensure the continuous improvement and development of its service offering.You will work seamlessly with HR colleagues to ensure that key employee benefits are provided in a timely and accurate manner.To liaise effectively with the external payroll provider (MHR / iTrent) who provide a partially managed service. Day to Day responsibilities include: Monthly collation and processing of variable payroll inputs (casual hours, overtime and allowances and expense claims) Set up of new joiner and leaver adjustments for each month’s payroll, ensuring these reflect contractual agreements Process monthly adjustments to staff pay agreements Load annual pay scales to iTrent and ensure accurately processed Co-ordinate end of tax year reporting and issuance of reconciliation of employee P60s and statutory returns. P11D count is minimal. Compliance with maternity and paternity pay rules where identified by the HR team. Compliance with monthly pension scheme reporting including Teachers Pension Scheme and 2 support staff schemes and AVCs Investigation and resolution of historic pension queries raised by current and former staff. Lead on pension auto-enrolment processes and renewals Reconciliation of monthly payroll deduction control accounts Preparation of monthly headcount management information from payroll Work with line managers on forecasts of payroll costs Develop payroll reporting processes using iTrent and Business Objects to support pension submission and Gender Pay Gap reporting Maintain sound working knowledge of payroll compliance issues and changes in relevant legislation. Other payroll based activities as necessaryYou will need to be/have: Experience of working in a similar payroll and pensions role for a minimum of three years, ideally in an education environment Highly numerate with supporting academic record Payroll trained / accounting training background Experience of using Excel to perform complex calculations. Strong knowledge of payroll administration and statutory payroll responsibilities Preferably experienced in using iTrent payroll systems Track record of strong customer focussed response to payroll and pension queriesThese are some fantastic opportunities and at Aspire People we listen to and care about our candidates.
