An experienced Payroll Manager is being recruited by Bond Williams Recruitment for our client based in Brockenhurst. This is a very busy role managing and processing 2 payrolls covering c.550 staff on a number of different contracts. Key Responsibilities:

• To manage the payroll team to carry out the day-to-day processes, including one to ones and disciplinary procedures.
• To oversee the training and development of the payroll team to promote knowledge transfer
• Ensure the accuracy of the Payroll records, for example: appointments, leavers and variations including SSP, SMP. incremental progression, pay awards, tax details, bank details, voluntary and statutory deductions, etc.
• Ensure that all claims are processed accurately for payroll, overtime and travel expense claims in accordance with current priorities and availability of staff.
• Provide expert and accurate pay and benefits advice including advising on tax, national insurance, pension and other voluntary deductions.
• Ensure the completion of all statutory returns/legislative requirements and also ensuring that enquiries from external agencies are dealt with promptly and accurately.
• Calculate and pay Statutory and Contractual pay as applicable in respect of absence relating to Maternity, Paternity, Adoption, Parental Leave and Sickness absence in accordance with the relevant regulations and policies.
• Produce monthly finance reports including BACS file to ensure that all staff are paid and associated deductions made via payroll are paid to providers e.g. pension contributions.
• Working with the Finance Manager, provide guidance in respect of HMRC legislation and ensuring that the organisation is compliant.
• Accountable for tax year end / HMRC reporting including balancing of Income Tax and National Insurance Contributions, filing monthly HMRC RTI returns, producing P60s, P11Ds and comprehensive checking of all returns.
• Ensure the full reconciliation of payroll, in order to report accurately to HMRC and pensions providers.
• Working in conjunction with the Finance Manager, conducting and performing audits, both external and internal, on payroll integrity matters and procedures and ensure ongoing compliance with.
• Proactively keeping up to date and advising on existing and new legislation particularly in relation to Income Tax, National Insurance Contributions, SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP, self employed individuals, RTI and P11d reporting.
• Administration of Pension Schemes including building and maintaining relationships with providers, keeping knowledge up-to-date and communicating and implementing changes.
• Liaise with Finance staff on accounting issues and provide payroll data for inclusion in the financial accounts.
• Provide periodic HR/ payroll management information
• The organisation will be moving to a new HR and Payroll system in 2024. Manage on-going maintenance and development of the system (in conjunction with the HR Manager) to maximise system capability and performance.
• A minimum 6 years experience of payroll management experience is required for this role, including knowledge of pensions regulations and administration, auto enrolment, HMRC rules, manual and computerised payroll systems and good experience of Excel and Word. Knowledge of Local Government, Teachers and NEST pensions would be an advantage together with a CIPP qualification and the ability to manage a small team.

The individual will also need to have strong interpersonal skills, be able to work under pressure, maintain a high level of confidentiality and have a keen eye for detail.Benefits
