Position: Play Leader (Primary Department)

Job Description: As a Play Leader in our Primary Department, you will play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and engaging play environment for our students. We are seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about children’s well-being and can contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of our school.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation for Play:

   • Set up play resources and space in a manner suitable for the age and abilities of the children.
   • Prepare and organize play activities that align with the developmental needs of the children.

2. Child Protection and Compliance:

   • Adhere to Child Protection procedures and communicate any concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Leader.
   • Familiarize yourself with and implement the school’s policies on Accidents, Behaviour, Play, Health and Safety, Inclusion, Employment, and Complaints into daily practice.

3. Communication and Reporting:

   • Provide feedback or reports to the Play Coordinator as requested or when necessary.
   • Attend all relevant training and meetings as required for the role, in consultation with the Headteacher.

4. Professionalism:

   • Be approachable and accessible to all pupils, maintaining professional interactions that focus on the child’s needs.

5. Play Facilitation:

   • Support and facilitate enriching play experiences for the children.
   • Play with the children when invited and when appropriate, fostering positive relationships.

6. Play Activity Development:

   • Devise and deliver play activities tailored to the age and individual needs of children.
   • Reflect and maintain adherence to the Playwork Principles in activity planning and implementation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
• Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage with children in a positive and constructive manner.
