Research Partner for Youth Voice Greater Manchester Moving

Research partner needed to coordinate an approach to capturing meaningful youth voice in education across Greater Manchester (GM) in relation to the School Games.

At GM Moving, we would like to understand what the motivations are for young people who are most in need, and what the School Games programme would need to look like in order to support them to be active. This will then inform the offer both locally and for the county.

We are seeking to appoint a research partner or a consortium with a lead organisation to coordinate an approach in capturing meaningful youth voice in education across the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester (GM). This work will take place between February – July 2024. The budget for this piece of work is a maximum of £10,000 inclusive of VAT.

Specifically, this will involve working alongside GM Moving and project partners to deliver against the project’s objectives:

• Develop an understanding, through a young person peer research approach, of what the School Games means to young people, teachers, and partners in GM.
• Support GM Moving and the School Games network in Greater Manchester to understand the needs of young people and what will encourage them to be active; including:
• those that are inactive or disengaged in secondary schools,
• those in alternative provision and pupil referral settings or at risk of exclusion
• young people with special educational needs.
• Provide School Games Organisers across the 10 boroughs of GM with the findings to ensure their local programmes are meeting the needs of the young people and that the local and county provision align.
• Use the findings to inform the planning of the School Games academic year.

Please note, a key part of this work will be to increase the number of young people and those in the education workforce in GM, using and applying the Lundy model to capture the voices of young people and their peers.
