Secondary School Teaching Assistant required to support visually impaired students in September long term
Your new company
A secondary school in south Birmingham is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with visual impairment. The role is to start in Sept and will in the first instance be for a term. The role is Monday to Friday and is term time only on time sheet. The school in question is based in the south Birmingham area and serves a local community of students from diverse backgrounds. The school prides itself on having a culture of high expectations in which they continuously encourage our students to aspire to be the best they can be. This is developed through a strong and supportive system of pastoral care provided by a dedicated team of Pastoral Leaders and form tutors that they have at the school.
Your new role
You will be supporting several students across the key stages who have visual impairment. You will be working with pupils in lessons using strategies to enhance their learning and working very closely with class teachers and the school special needs co-ordinator. You will be required to work with key stakeholders on planning and liaising with parents and other services in order to support the children within your care.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have experience of working with pupils with special needs and most importantly this experience should include working with visually impaired children. You will have recent satisfactory references that Hays Education will be able to obtain to back up this experience.
