Job Description: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: North West England, Greater Manchester, Tameside

Job Type: Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties:

• Provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in a school setting
• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students
• Help students with their academic, social, and emotional development
• Support students with behavioural and learning difficulties during lessons and activities
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents/guardians
• Assist in the preparation and adaptation of teaching materials and resources
• Supervise students during break times and ensure their safety and well-being
• Collaborate with other teaching staff and professionals to create an inclusive learning environment
• Follow school policies and procedures regarding safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour management

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
• Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with SEN

Education:

A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent

Experience:

Prior experience working with students with special educational needs is desirable but not essential

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
