GLS Education is exclusively working with a SEN Primary client school in Barnstaple, Devon, to find a SEN Teaching Assistant, where your everyday presence will affect the future of primary school pupils.

Role and Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in assisting kids with exceptional educational needs and challenging behaviours. Your tasks will include the following:

• Individualized Support: Providing students with individualized support to help them overcome the unique issues associated with their main autism diagnosis and challenging expectations.
• Collaboration: Collaborating with educators, therapists, and other specialists to create an inclusive learning environment that matches each child’s individual requirements.
• Customised Educational Plans: Implementing specialized educational programs and approaches to assist students in reaching their full potential and developmental milestones.
• Social and Emotional Growth: Encourage and nurture social connection, communication, and emotional development, all of which are key components of growth for these children.
• Personal Well-Being: Providing personal care to students to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Progress Tracking: Progress tracking comprises evaluating and reporting on students’ progress as well as actively participating in their education.

Requirements:

• Candidates with experience in care and support work are preferred.
• A genuine interest in education and a desire to see kids thrive.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Empathy and patience are required to engage effectively with pupils who face a variety of obstacles.
• A proactive and adaptable strategy, capable of adapting to changing circumstances.
• School experience would be beneficial but not required.
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
