SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary

Hays Education are currently working with a large Primary School in Runcorn to recruit an SEN teaching assistant for a long-term job. The role role is to work 1:1 with a child in Year 3 supporting them in class and around the school. The job is to the end of the academic year.The role is Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm term time only and is attached to funding. The role will be long term on an ongoing basis whilst the school receives funding or until the child leaves the school.The school are welcoming applications from candidates with previous experience as a teaching assistant or experience supporting children with SEND.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant supporting a child on a 1:1 basis with SEN you will:

• Providing tailored support and working with children with SEMH and SEN (special education needs)
• Creating a safe environment that allows children to have fun, learn and succeed
• Academic support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Assisting the teacher in organising and delivering activities for a range of subjects

What you’ll need to succeed

• You should have previous experience working in a school or experience supporting children or adults with SEND.
• Work experience with children / young people in any capacity is preferable, but no experience is needed as full training will be provided.
• You will have a passion for education, excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.
• You will be proactive and innovative with the ability to engage students in different ways.
• A positive attitude and desire to maintain current standards and raise attainment in school.
