A wonderful secondary SEND school in Berkeley are in need of somebody to join them on a full-time, long-term basis. The school is fairly new but is part of a large provider of education and care to children with additional needs.

The needs of the students vary but all are complex in nature. The children may have ASD, PMLD, SEMH or difficulties with cognitive processing. The school benefits from a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory room, a soft pay room and potentially best of all – a school dog! You may provide 1:1 support, or you may support a small group of children within a class. Your duties would include:

• Developing 1:1 sessions to support academic development
• Supporting the children academically during large group class time
• Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management within the classroom
• Providing regular emotional and social support and managing challenging behaviour

This role will begin ASAP!

About you

The ideal candidate for this role would be somebody who loves supporting children with additional needs and demonstrates the ability to remain calm under pressure. A teaching assistant qualification or experience of working with challenging behaviour is advantageous but not essential.
