With highly active research staff, we offer PhD supervision in a broad range of fields. Our combination of theoretical and practical expertise means we can support either written or practice-based PhD work, which could include elements of archival research, Design, Photography, Branding, Communication, Fashion Marketing, Film or exhibition practice.
The Role
The School is currently looking for a permanent Senior Lecturer to support our delivery of MA Advertising, Branding and Communication and MA Brand Design Innovation.
The role includes postgraduate teaching including designing, conducting and moderating assessment; implementing improvements informed by peer review, course evaluation and/or student feedback. Postgraduate supervision (both Master’s Projects and dissertations). Professional activities and/or peer-reviewed research activities appropriate to the discipline including publishing research results in high-quality outlets as lead or co-author.
The Person
The successful candidate will have up-to-date experience in brand communication, consumer behaviour and/or analytics and a good track record of experience in the Advertising industry.
Applicants should have advanced skills in content creation including creative direction, digital imaging (photography or video), or communication for web/mobile/social media. The individual must be able to deliver both online and face to face if/when required. The successful candidate is expected to actively promote both the program and the School through membership of – and links to – academic and professional networks in the Advertising and or creative marketing worlds (UK and/or overseas). Experience in the sector is vital for supporting the preparation of our PG students’ careers
Ideally the successful candidate will have a relevant PhD qualification from a recognised institution with a track-record of peer-reviewed outputs and senior international level experience in the Advertising sector: client-side, agency-side or otherwise. It is essential that candidates have experience in teaching and learning at Higher Education level or experience in delivering corporate/ training. Strong skills in desktop apps, namely productivity and Adobe® Suite, including the ability to develop materials for and deliver online teaching is essential.

Additional Information
We welcome applications from individuals who do not have a fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Should you be successful and do not hold an HEA fellowship you will be asked to complete one within 2 years of appointment as a condition of your continued employment. Depending on eligibility this may take the form of an advanced Level 7 apprenticeship in teaching which means that you will spend 20% of your work in off-the-job study.
Please be advised that it is expected that appointment within a grade will normally be at the minimum point.
