About BANG
BANG is a black-led, locally rooted charity that occupies a pivotal position in the youth sector in the London Borough of Brent. At the core of BANG is young people and a set of humanistic values that underpin our activities and culture.
After 21 years in existence BANG has developed into leadership organisation in that is now able to galvanise local people and partners to achieve positive social action even beyond Brent.
Our vision is of a world in which all young people are valued, thriving, and contributing positively to their communities. We address the needs of young people by developing programmes that identify needs and build confidence, motivation, experiences, networks, and skills.
BANG is flexible in operations to ensure we can respond to young people and community needs.
Background & Outline of Post
BANG Edutainment seeks facilitator for RiseUP; our Leadership & Entrepreneurial Project. You will be skilled and experienced in enterprise/leadership education and able to deliver workshops on all aspects of organisational development.
The project seeks to aid young people to grow and learn skills in business, leadership & entrepreneurship. The children and young people are from diverse and/or disadvantaged backgrounds; some will be students at school or college.
Through this project, BANG aims to offer young people, aged 14-24 a greater opportunity to explore, discover opportunities within business and leadership.
Main Areas of responsibility
Engage participants of all ages in developing their skills and experience relating to business, leadership, and entrepreneurship
Have good working relationships with our partners, including schoolteachers who may be accompanying pupils.
Support the monitoring and evaluation of activities to meet funders’ targets.
Liaise with BANG staff and other agencies on the needs of individual service users
Attend and contribute to meetings, working group meetings and other meetings, as required
Actively promote and ensure good equal opportunities practice at all times and work in an anti-oppressive manner
Adhere to and keep updated with all policies and procedures
General
Make a positive contribution towards supervisions, team meetings and development days.
Have a conscientious, professional approach to the role ensuring impeccable timekeeping, planning, record-keeping and effective communication across departments.
Undertake and refresh all mandatory and relevant training related to the post.
To work alongside The BEAT London radio to create a positive working environment and move the BANG Edutainment forward in a positive direction and in line with BANG’s Values, Mission, Aims and Objectives
Experience
Essential
Delivering workshop sessions on business, leadership, and entrepreneurship to individuals and groups both online and in person.
Be able to enthuse and actively engage young people and local residents
Experience working with young people and in community setting
Knowledge
Essential
Knowledge of the issues affecting BME communities in London
Understand the needs and process of business development including, structures, marketing, budgeting etc
An understanding of individual and organisational needs in relation to safeguarding and Health & Safety
Desirable
Knowledge of make-up and needs of the Brent community
Knowledge of the issues in relation to vulnerable young people and families in Brent
