Protocol Education are looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to work in a lovely special needs schools located in Croydon. This particular school welcomes new staff, offering continued support & development throughout their placement. As a teaching assistant you will be working as part of a team and one to one to year 7 students with autism, severe learning difficulties and speech & language difficulties. You role will be to support and develop students speech & language, social cues & understanding, developing sentence structure through the use of images, support them in interactive play, take part in creative lessons that include music, art and movement. You will also encourage the use of sensory integration utilising materials that explore sound, touch & visual senses to stimulate students cognitive processes.
Please note due to current circumstances, this role will look to start after February half-term or after Easter 2020.
Main responsibilities include:
Working as part of a small team and supporting students collectively
Partaking in creative lessons and encouraging students to feel involved and immersed
Provide one to one support through out of the day to ensure students have a positive learning experience
Assisting students and encouraging sensory integration with the aid of a designated sensory room
Developing motor skills and encouraging physical independence
Developing speech and language through the use of pictures and simple signing
