We are currently recruiting for a Specialist Lecturer in IT. Do you have a proven track record in providing a high standard of teaching? The successful candidate will have experience in mentoring and developing staff within their department and have the ability to lead by example and drive the progression and innovation of the courses. To assist the department head in continuously developing and progressing the IT department.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Teach IT and Computing to an outstanding level and contribute to the improvement of teaching across the College.
Provide IT and Computing teaching and learning to pre-assigned learner groups across the College to an agreed timetable.
To lead Internal Verifier responsibility for all IT and Computing courses within the department, including liaison with external moderators from all relevant awarding bodies.
Provide IT and Computing teaching and learning to other groups that require specialist intervention where and when intervention is required.
Lead the development of the new T-Level qualifications within the IT and Computing curriculum, and support the training of staff in these as part of the college’s staff development programme.
Assist management of the directorate in securing improvements in teaching and learning by contributing to staff development and induction of new staff.
Devise and lead workshops and development activities to train staff in the implementation of new qualifications (inc.T-Level) to improve teaching and learning practice.
Work with the Google Champions, beacon teachers and Course leaders to develop the innovative solutions which support teaching and learning of IT & Computing.
The person and qualifications
Demonstrable experience as an outstanding classroom teacher of IT and computing.
Successful experience of taking additional responsibilities within a team including designing and developing resources to support learning.
Significant success in mentoring trainee/newly-qualified teachers and coaching other staff so that their classroom practice develops.
