The School of Computing and Engineering is a research-intensive environment with world-leading groups in Precision Technologies, Railway Research and Condition Monitoring Technologies. After a very successful REF2021 we are seeking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow or Research Fellow or Research Assistant in vibration condition monitoring of rotating machinery.
You must have a PhD (or near completion for a Research Assistant) in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and related areas and a practical experience in vibration condition monitoring of rotating machinery.
This is an exciting opportunity for a pro-active researcher to join the Centre for Efficiency and Performance Engineering led by Professor Len Gelman, a holder of two Rolls Royce Awards for Innovation.
The Centre has a strong record in applied research in the academic and industrial sectors. Application areas, related to the post, include vibration monitoring of complex electro-mechanical systems, advanced non-stationary signal processing, pattern recognition and multi-sensor fusion. These are applied to multiple industries, including power generation, automotive, aerospace and oil and gas.
You must have a record of journal/conference publications and a strong experience in programming in Matlab, including Signal Processing Toolbox.
To be appointed at a Senior Research Fellow level, a successful candidate needs to demonstrate the attributes from a Person Specification for a Senior Research Fellow. If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at a Research Fellow level or a Research Assistant level, depending on knowledge, experience and skills; please look into Person Specifications for a Research Fellow and a Research Assistant.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
